Had our Airbnb near Disneyland flood and I needed someone to extract an inche of water from the whole first floor. David responded immediately, was completely professional and him and his guys were onsite within 45 minutes to handle the vacuuming and drying process. Excellent!

Exploring Anaheim

Anaheim is Orange County’s largest city and its best-known destination, home to world-famous theme parks, a Major League ballpark, and a downtown that has reinvented itself over the past decade. Beyond the tourist draws, it’s a working, diverse community with deep agricultural roots, once covered in the orange groves that gave the county its name. Visitors and locals alike find plenty to do here, from big-ticket attractions to walkable food halls.

Disneyland Park

Walt Disney’s original theme park opened here on July 17, 1955, built on 160 acres of former orange groves. Its opening day was so chaotic, with counterfeit tickets, overcrowding, and asphalt still setting on Main Street, that it became known as “Black Sunday.” The park has grown far beyond its five original lands, but Sleeping Beauty Castle still anchors Fantasyland, and classics like the Matterhorn and Jungle Cruise remain. Weekday mornings and off-season visits tend to bring the shortest lines, so plan around holidays and summer weekends.

Anaheim Packing District

Housed in a restored 1919 Sunkist citrus-packing house, this two-story food hall opened in 2014 as Orange County’s first of its kind. Inside, roughly 30 local vendors serve everything from Cajun-Vietnamese noodles to craft cocktails, and the building earned a spot on the National Register of Historic Places in 2015. The wider district also includes the 1925 Packard Building, the MAKE Building in a former marmalade factory, and Farmers Park. Come hungry and plan to graze, and check the schedule for live music and weekend markets.

Disneyland Resort

While Disneyland Park is the centerpiece, the surrounding Disneyland Resort is the full 490-acre complex that grew up around it. A major expansion in 2001 added the second theme park, Disney California Adventure, along with the Downtown Disney shopping and dining district and Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel. Three Disney hotels now sit on the property, and staying at one comes with perks like early park entry on select days. Downtown Disney is free to enter without a park ticket, making it an easy stop for a meal or a stroll.

Angel Stadium

Home to the Los Angeles Angels since 1966, Angel Stadium is one of the oldest ballparks still active in Major League Baseball, trailing only Fenway, Wrigley, and Dodger Stadium. Owner Gene Autry, the “Singing Cowboy,” picked this Anaheim site for its proximity to Disneyland and the freeways. Fans know it as “The Big A” for the 230-foot halo-topped scoreboard that gave the stadium its nickname. Beyond baseball, it has hosted football, concerts, and soccer over the years. Guided tours run on non-game days for a behind-the-scenes look.
